Overnight Summer Camp

Overnight Summer Camp at YMCA Camp Bishop gives kids a full week of classic camp life: lakeside cabins, new friends, and full days of activity on beautiful Lost Lake near Shelton, Washington.

Campers spend their days rotating through waterfront fun, field games, creative arts, and campfire traditions that build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging with their cabin group and counselors.

What campers might experience:

Swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and other waterfront activities
Archery, hikes, and outdoor adventure
STEAM and arts & crafts projects
Field games, GaGa, and team challenges
Evening campfires, songs, and cabin time

Overnighters

Overnighters are one-night themed experiences at Camp Bishop – a perfect way for first-time campers to try staying overnight at camp without committing to a full week.

Kids enjoy a “mini taste” of summer camp with evening games, crafts, campfire time, and a cozy night in the lodge or cabins with caring YMCA staff.

Highlights:

Fun, themed programming (like Winter Wonderland or holiday weekends)
Group games, crafts, and cabin activities
Campfire, songs, and s’mores when weather allows
Supportive staff to help nervous or first-time campers feel at home

Outdoor Education

Outdoor Education at Camp Bishop gives schools and youth groups the chance to bring learning outside the classroom. Students explore nature, science, and team-building on the shores of Lost Lake and in the surrounding forest.

Programs can be tailored with YMCA staff to focus on environmental education, leadership, or social-emotional skills in a safe, supportive setting.

Rentals & More

Camp Bishop is also available as a retreat and rental site for churches, schools, colleges, sports teams, and community groups. Groups can enjoy a quiet lakeside setting while using the lodge, cabins, dining hall, and program areas.

Whether you’re planning a leadership retreat, youth weekend, band or choir camp, or a family gathering, Camp Bishop offers flexible spaces and access to classic camp activities.

Meet Camp Bishop Team

Camp Bishop counselors are caring role models who bring the Y’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility to life every day. They lead activities, support cabin life, and help campers feel safe, welcome, and included.

Many of our counselors grew up at camp themselves and return year after year to give kids the same life-changing experience they had. From the first icebreakers to the last campfire, they are there to encourage, listen, and cheer campers on.

Our counselor team is:

Carefully screened and background-checked through the YMCA
Trained in safety, first aid, and emergency procedures
Coached in positive youth development and behavior support
Committed to helping every camper feel seen, valued, and part of the camp team.

YMCA Camp Bishop is a co-ed overnight camp on beautiful Lost Lake near Shelton, Washington, run by the YMCA of Grays Harbor. Campers enjoy mini and week-long sessions for kids in elementary and middle school, with classic outdoor and waterfront activities in a stunning natural setting.

The camp focuses on inclusion, friendship, and character development—helping kids build confidence, social skills, and a sense of belonging. Camp Bishop also serves as a year-round retreat and rental site for schools, churches, and community groups.

Adventure Meets Tradition

What campers might experience:

A magical experience at Camp Bishop! We are offering a taste of summer camp. You will have the opportunity to stay a night at camp and participate in many activities that we offer during the summer, including: kayaking, STEAM crafts, archery, field games, campfire/smores, and silly skits.

We will be doing winter themed crafts; create festive decorations and gifts to take home! It wouldn’t be winter time without ugly holiday sweaters. Show off your most festive and outrageous holiday sweaters for our Ugly Sweater contest. Then, we will close out the night, cozy by the fireplace in the lodge, with hot cocoa (and marshmallows, of course) and a classic holiday movie.

Don’t worry if the weather is cold and rainy – we have great indoor program areas and everyone will be warm and cozy in the lodge.

Transportation provided on a first registered, first served basis.

Program Cost: $100 members, $175 program members
