Swim Lessons
Swim Lessons
Water is a source of fun and recreation, but it can also be a source of fear. You don’t want your children standing around while their friends play in the water. But you can’t be everywhere all the time.
Teaching children how to be safe around water is one of the most important life skills parents can help to provide. It not only saves lives, it builds confidence.
Youth
The Y is a national leader in swim instruction and water safety. The YMCA of Grays Harbor aquatic programs are designed to teach personal water safety and swimming skills to everyone. Our instructors are certified by YMCA swim instruction.
Classes arrange swimmers by skill level as swimmers progress through the instruction program. Our progressive swim instruction method uses a problem solving, guided discovery teaching approach in a positive, caring environment.
The YMCA of Grays Harbor strives to create a safe, fun, and encouraging environment for all swimmers. In addition to teaching swimming skills, our instructors are passionate about creating a positive atmosphere that encourages our students to be courteous, respectful, responsible, and confident individuals and athletes.
Our classes are about more than just teaching techniques, they’re about building confidence and nurturing potential, progressing with your needs and abilities, for introductory to competitive.

Private
Build confidence in the water with personalized instruction designed to meet you where you are—whether you’re new to swimming or refining your technique. Our certified instructors work one-on-one with participants ages 6 months and older, helping them develop skills that support safety, strength, and lifelong enjoyment of the water. Through patient guidance and encouragement, swimmers gain not only stronger strokes but also perseverance, confidence, and a deeper sense of belonging in our Y community.

springboard diving
Springboard Diving introduces young swimmers to the fundamentals of competitive diving in a supportive, skill building environment. Participants will learn safe approaches, controlled jumps, and forward and back dives; all while building confidence, body awareness and resilience in the water. By practicing in deep water and progressing through guided instruction, divers discover the courage to try new challenges and the focus needed to grow as athletes and individuals. Swimmers must be comfortable in deep water and enrolled in Stroke Introduction or above, LAST, or Swim Team.
