After School Program Coordinator-Academic Coach

Position:Afterschool Program Academic Coach
Site: Aberdeen School District (AJ West, Stevens, Robert Gray, Miller Jr High)
Schedule: 10-15 hrs per week, afternoon and early evenings, some flexibility, based on need
Pay rate: $20-$22 per hour

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Lead groups of 10-12 students through afterschool activities
  • Guide academic and social development of students
  • Ensure a SAFE, ENRICHING, and HEALTHY LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
  • Assist with planning of enrichments and activities, as directed by leadership staff
  • Provide leadership and support to student mentors, within program area
  • Assist with snacks and meals
  • Use positive behavior strategies to reinforce school expectations
  • Attend program family nights, field trips, and staff meetings
  • Reinforce YMCA values
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Experience in public education
  • Previous experience as a site Lead Mentor
  • Confident leading activities in an engaging manner
  • Comfortable with independent thinking and taking the initiative
  • Confident working with and tutoring school aged students
  • Responsible character •
  • Be present, purposeful, and positive while on-site
  • Applicants currently employed at site will be given priority hiring •
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • AA preferred

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour

After School Program Site Coordinator

Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Train and support staff as needed
  • Supervise the Harbor After School program during program hours
  • Evaluate program staff as needed
  • Communicate with program staff, school district teachers and building principal on a regular basis to build a strong link between the school day and the Harbor After School program
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment for staff and students
  • Provide site monitoring and supervision
  • Develop and implement engaging, enrichment activities related to school day instruction emphasizing literacy and STEAM
  • Develop schedules for students to participate in tutoring and enrichment activities • Create and support a model of continuous improvement
  • Organize and promote parent and family involvement events around family literacy activities and parent education
  • Coordinate the collection of surveys, evaluations, attendance sheets and other data as required for the program evaluation and reporting process
  • Participate in site programming evaluation using protocol identified by OSPI
  • Prepare and submit monthly reports to the 21st Century District Director
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Experience as a YMCA Lead Mentor, Academic Coach or working with youth
  • Experience leading staff teams of adults and youth
  • Confident leading activities in an engaging manner
  • Comfortable with independent thinking and taking the initiative
  • Confident working with and tutoring school aged students
  • Strong character traits
  • Be present, purposeful, and positive while on-site

After School Program - Student Mentor

Position: After School Program Student Mentor
Site: Aberdeen School Disctrict (AJ West, Stevens, Robert Gray, Miller Jr High)
Hiring for: 2025-2026 school year
Schedule: Weekdays 2:30-5:30pm (time varies by site), occasional evenings and weekends, 10-15 hours per week
Pay rate: $18-$20 per hour
Key Areas of Responsibility:

  • Act as a role model, fostering positive relationships with program students
  • Guide academic and social development of kids • Ensuring a SAFE, ENRICHING, and HEALTHY LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
  • Mentor groups of up to 12 program students
  • Lead intentional program activities
  • Lead fitness activities
  • Support on-site teachers, school staff, and administrators during academic time
  • Assist with snacks and meals • Reinforce YMCA values
  • Use positive behavior strategies to reinforce school expectations
  • Address student conflicts in a respectable and timely manner
  • Attend program family nights, field trips, and staff meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
